Obituary of Leland M. Scott

Leland M. “Scotty” Scott, 84 of 21857 Neilltown Rd. Pleasantville, passed away Sunday morning June 8, 2014 at his residence. Scotty was born on March 27, 1930 in Titusville, a son of the late William and Pearle Richardson Scott. He was previously married to Mildred Miller who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of the Pleasantville High School. Scotty was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He entered the service on Feb. 26, 1952 at Pittsburgh and was honorably discharged on Feb. 25, 1954 at Ft. Lee, VA with the rank of corporal. He had been self employed as a sawyer for many years, and in his younger years had worked in the local oil fields. Scotty was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW; and a member of the Rainbow Sportsmans Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had also farmed for a few years. He is survived by his close friend and loving companion, Alice Grenell of Pleasantville; three daughters, Charlotte Paden and husband Raymond of Winsted, CT, Shirley Haylett and husband William of Polk, and Alice Del Rosario and husband Dann of Riverview, FL; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Lila and Merle Barrett; and three grandchildren, David and Mildred Jane Barrett, and Leland J. Haylett; and his only brother, Alfred Scott. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. Ken Craker, retired minister, officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery with full military rites conducted by officers and members of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW and Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
