Obituary of Margaret L. Wakefield
Mrs. Margaret L. Wakefield, 85, passed away at 10:10 PM on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at the home of her son, Kenneth Wakefield and wife Wendy in Pleasantville.
Mrs. Wakefield was born on February 18, 1929, in Titusville to the late Burton R. and Blanche Wright Seeley. She married Theodore “Ted” Wakefield on March 12, 1955, in Centerville. Mr. Wakefield preceded her in death on August 12, 1984.
She attended Enterprise School.
Mrs. Wakefield was the co-owner and operator along with her husband of “Ted & Marges Tavern” in Centerville from 1960 to 1971.
She enjoyed working on the family farm, doing word search puzzles, gardening, canning, and going to dirt track races. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Wakefield is survived by her 6 sons, William Wakefield and wife Rhetha of Townville, Edward Wakefield and wife Karen of Titusville, Terry Wakefield and wife Bonnie of Titusville, Theodore Wakefield and wife Gail of Grand Valley, Scott Wakefield and companion Debra Brown of Titusville, Kenneth Wakefield and wife Wendy of Pleasantville; 2 daughters, Cynthia Wakefield and companion Howard Foltz, Delilah Beach and husband Gaylin “Ed” of Titusville; 19 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 12 brothers and sisters, Jack Seeley, Robert Seeley, Anne Cartney, Charlotte Gustafson, Alta Webber and husband Robert, Virginia Hubert and husband Martin, Donald Seeley, Marilyn Seeley, Shirley Beers and husband Steven, Gloria Grow and husband Harry, Herbert Seeley, Alice Jones and husband Richard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a companion, George Spencer of 20 years, a daughter-in-law, Penny Wakefield; a grandson, Timothy Wakefield; a great granddaughter, Allyssa Wakefield; 9 brothers and sisters, Marion Paden, Daisey Jones, Burton Seeley, Jr., Phyllis Keyes, Nina Mitchell, Richard Seeley, Thelma Postalewait, Harold Seeley, and Stella Millard.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Friday from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday at 11 AM with Rev. Glenn Van Cise, pastor of the Chapmanville Community Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
