Obituary of Mary E. Hicks

Mrs. Mary E. Hicks, 76, of 41991 Boghollow Rd. Titusville, died Thursday evening September 23, 2010 at her residence. Mary was born on April 11, 1934 in Titusville, a daughter of the late Frank and Waive See Snyder. She was married to Donald D. Hicks on July 31, 1954 at Jelico, TN. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2010. Mary was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1952. In addition to helping her husband operate the family dairy farm, she had been employed at the former Isaly’s Store in Titusville and also at the Titusville Dairy. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, bingo, and doing crafts. She is survived by three children, Donald G. Hicks, Rose Marie Dilley, and Daniel D. Hicks and his wife Barbara, all of Titusville; four grandchildren, Ronald Hicks and his wife Tazi, Amanda Lynn Hicks, Bradley Hicks, and Marci Lynn Dilley; three great grandchildren, Nathan and Ryleigh Hicks, and Gage Warner; four brothers, Frank “Hank” Snyder of Titusville, Paul “Butch” Snyder and wife Shirley of Pleasantville, Rulin “Jeff” Snyder and wife Pauline of Titusville, and Stanley “John” Snyder and wife Erma of Titusville; a sister, Margaret “Mugs” Foote of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son; three brothers, Maryott “Skat” Snyder, Edward Snyder, and Merle Snyder; and three sisters, Josephine “Huggy” Bedow, Helen Smith, and Shirley Kabasinki. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Sunday from 7 to 9 PM and on Monday from 10 AM to 11 AM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. Toby Warner, officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County 310 N. Monroe St. Titusville, PA 16354. FLOWERS
