Obituary of Watson P. Pringle

Mr. Watson P. Pringle, 94, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at 7:45 AM at the Rhodes Estates in New Castle. Mr. Pringle was born on October 31, 1919, in Warrenton, VA to the late Thomas W. and Pearl Proper Pringle. He married Helen Kriner on June 15, 1943, in Titusville. Mrs. Pringle preceded him in death on November 29, 2001. Watson was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1938, and attended Fenn College (now Cleveland State University) prior to entering the military. Mr. Pringle was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy. He entered the service on January 16, 1942, and was honorably discharged on September 21, 1945, with the rank of Aviation Electricians Mate First Class. He was formerly employed at Struthers Wells Corp. in Titusville, Boardman Company in Oklahoma City, OK, and retired from the former Pennsylvania Engineering Corporation of New Castle in 1983. Mr. Pringle was a former member of the Titusville Emanuel Lutheran Church and a member of the Bessemer Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder. Watson and his wife enjoyed traveling in their Fan camper and belonged to the Fan Trailer Club. He was also an avid Philatalest (stamp collector). He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Mitcham and her husband Charles of New Castle; two grandchildren, Stephen Mitcham of New Castle, Elizabeth Rooney and husband Thad of Greenville, SC; a brother, Alan D. Pringle and wife Rosella of Temple, TX; and four nieces and nephews, Randall Pringle of Temple, TX, Rebecca Jordan and husband John of Glen Rock, NJ, Susan De Stefano of Bedminster, NJ, and Benjamin Armington and wife Linda of Gig Harbor, WA. Mr. Pringle was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Armington. No calling hours will be observed. A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, July 21st at 3:30 PM in the Bessemer Presbyterian Church with Rev. Nathan Leslie, officiating. Interment was held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Titusville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Titusville Alumni Association 302 E. Walnut St., Titusville, PA 16354 or to the Bessemer Presbyterian Church, 29 N. Main St., Bessemer, PA 16112. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354.
