Obituary of Alfred R. Wyant
Mr. Alfred R. Wyant, 88, of 111 Skyview Dr., Titusville died at 10:20 PM on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at the Golden LivingCenter in Titusville.
Mr. Wyant was born on July 4, 1922 in Knoxdale to the late James and Alma Stalhman Wyant. He married Mary Henry on October 15, 1946 in Kittanning.
He was a graduate of Clarion Limestone High School and he served in the US Marine Corp.
Mr. Wyant was formerly employed in the hot mill and finishing dept. for 32 years at Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. He retired in 1983.
He attended the Free Methodist Church, was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, and Cyclops Quarter Century Club.
Mr. Wyant was a former lay pastor and assistant pastor at the Turkey City Church of God. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, flower and vegetable gardening, snowmobiling and when he was younger playing sandlot baseball.
He is survived by his wife Mary Wyant of Titusville; one son, Rodney Wyant and his wife Doris of Centerville; one daughter, Cheryl Perry and her husband James of Freeport, FL; four grandchildren, Matthew Perry and wife Debbie of New Jersey, Stephen Perry and wife Joan of Atlanta, GA, Alicia Price and husband Richard of Pleasantville, Kirk Wyant of Titusville; ten great grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Wyant and wife Violet of Townville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wyant was preceded in death by a son, Alfred Wyant who died in Vietnam in 1968; four brothers, Wilbert, Ira, Kenneth and Joseph Wyant; and three sisters, Lois Ashbaugh, Mary Platt and Iris Saddler.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service from the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Timothy Maybray, pastor of the Free Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery.
