Obituary of Ruth Ann Copley

Ruth Ann Copley, 70, of Titusville, passed away Sunday evening July 27th at the Titusville Area Hospital following an extended illness with her family by her side.Ruth was born on June 15, 1944 in Titusville, a daughter of the late Robert and Mary Shields Burrows. She was employed at the former Franklin Hospital for over 10 years in housekeeping until her retirement. She had also been employed at Polk Center for a number of years. Ruth was a member of the Oil City VFW Ladies Auxillary. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, going for walks, doing crafts, camping, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ruth was married to John A. Copley on Dec. 6, 1961. John was born on Jan. 1, 1939 in Oil City, a son of the late John L. and Julia Stevens Copley. John had been employed at Colonial Machine in Pleasantville as a machinist. He was a veteran having served in the US Air Force. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2012. John is survived by a brother, Larry Copley of Sheffield and a sister Kathy Daugherty of Oil City. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Robert Copley and a sister Margaret Craft. Ruth and John are survived by five children, Barbara Mook and husband Chris of Meadville, Timothy Copley of Oil City, Mark Copley and wife Judy of Mogadore, OH, Darren Copley of Titusville, and Donald Copley and wife Julie of Mercer; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ruth is also survived by her adopted children, Johnathon Copley of Franklin, and Alexandria Copley and Timothy Copley, Jr., both of Titusville; two brothers, Robert Burrows and wife Reenie of The Dalles, OR and William Burrows; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James Burrows and Richard “Dickie” Burrows. Friends may attend a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Saturday August 2nd at the Pleasantville United Methodist Church 427 N. Main St. Pleasantville, PA with Rev. Donald Russell, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Rynd Farm Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County 491 Allegheny Blvd. Franklin, PA 16323 or to the VFW Post 464 2 Relief St. Oil City, PA 16301.
