Obituary of Stephen L. Beers
Mr. Stephen L. Beers, Sr., 71, of Titusville, died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 7:22 AM at the Titusville Area Hospital.
Steve was born May 6, 1943 in Titusville to the late James and Irene Howe Beers. He married Shirley Seeley on September 10, 1965 in Titusville.
He attended Titusville schools.
Steve was a veteran having served in the US Navy aboard the USS Basilone DD-824 as an electrical repairman. He entered the service on February 27, 1962 in Oil City, PA and was honorably discharged on February 26, 1968 in New Port, RI.
Mr. Beers worked as a mechanic for various companies and was last employed for County Environmental until his retirement in 2005.
Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, camping and bowling. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also loved being with the family dog Susie.
In addition to his wife Shirley he is survived by his three children, Stephen Beers, Jr., and wife Jennifer of Franklin, Teresa Lohr and husband David of Titusville, and Phillip Beers of Pleasantville; eight grandchildren, Stephanie and husband Frank of Statesboro, GA, Rachel of Titusville, Michaela, Brittany, Cassie, Megan, Steve and Scott of Franklin; one brother Rodney Beers and wife Barbara of Brockport, PA; two sisters, Sandra Rigby of Titusville and Sharon Ruot and husband Joseph of Mahaffey, PA; 5 nephews, 1 niece and numerous brothers and sisters in-law.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attended a funeral there Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Glen VanCise, officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by officers and members of the VFW and American Legion.
Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
