Obituary of Adeline I. Harvey Hummer

Mrs. Adeline Harvey Hummer, 94, formerly of Titusville, passed away Friday August 15th at the Suites at Rouse in Youngsville. She loved the Lord and is happily in his presence now. Adeline was born on August 14, 1920 in Titusville, a daughter of the late Worth and Jessie Kerr Alcorn. She was first married to Edward L. Harvey who preceded her in death on April 10, 1990. She later married John Hummer who survives. Adeline was a graduate of Colestock High School. She was co-owner of a beauty shop in Titusville for several years. She had also worked during World War II in the steel mill where she was the only woman to weld seams and inspect war supplies. Adeline was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Adeline enjoyed making flower arrangements and wreaths which she would give to family and friends. She was happy when holding her many cats and dogs over the years. She had a deep love for her family and friends and will be greatly missed for her sense of humor and wit which brought joy and laughter to all. Adeline is survived by her husband John at the Suites at Rouse in Youngsville; a brother, Richard Alcorn of Magnolia, TX; a sister, Betty McClenaghan and husband Ken of Glendale, WI; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Alcorn and two sisters, Esther Hopkins and Eleanor Platt. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. Jerry Gray, pastor of the Bethel United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Kerr Hill Cemetery. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Warren County 2 West Crescent Park Warren, PA 16365.
