Obituary of Joseph R. Wolfe
Mr. Joseph R. Wolfe, 98, of 318 N. Brown St., Titusville passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Wolfe was born on November 30, 1915, in Youngstown, OH to the late Joseph A. and Emma Buser Wolf. He married Waltina M. “Teenie” Pedensky on November 13, 1948, at St. Walburga Church. Mrs. Wolfe preceded him in death on September 1, 2013.
He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy. He entered the service on August 17, 1943, and was honorably discharged February 11, 1946, with the rank of P3rd Class.
Mr. Wolfe was formerly employed at the former Titusville Forge Works until the closing of the plant. He then went to work for General Electric in Erie in the assembly division for 25 years until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Walburga Church since 1948. During those years he helped alongside his wife at many of the church functions.
Mr. Wolfe enjoyed entertaining and cooking for family and friends at his home, he was a civil war buff, and instilled in his children a love of art, good food, and music.
He is survived by his five children, Emily Hodas and husband Jim of Erie, Cecelia Wolfe of Titusville, Margaret Buse of Houston, TX, Timothy Wolfe of Titusville, John Wolfe and wife Susan of Cochranton; 8 grandchildren, Andrea Mirth and husband Mike of Harborcreek, Peter Hodas, Matt Hodas and wife Allison, Julie Hodas all of Erie, Tim and David Buse of Houston, TX, Andy and Marissa Wolfe of Cochranton; 5 great grandchildren, Sarah, Lucy and Anna Mirth, A.J. and M.J Hodas; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wolfe was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Paul and Norman Wolf; and a sister, Cecelia Mulqueen.
No calling hours will be observed. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM in St. Walburga Church with Fr. Walter E. Packard,eh pastor for the Catholic Community of Titusville, as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Walburga Cemetery.
