Obituary of Leona E. Proctor

Mrs. Leona E. Proctor, 77, formerly of the Billie Brown Building, died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Golden Living Center. Leona was born in Elgin, PA on July 11, 1937 to the late Henry and Catherine Janosec Firster. She married Richard E. Proctor, Sr. on April 9, 1954 in Clymer, NY. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2005. Leona was active in the Salvation Army Church and attended the Hydetown Baptist Church. She was a member of the Hydetown Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, American Legion Post 359 Ladies Auxiliary, and the VFW Bruce Shorts Post 5958 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her two daughters, Gloria Manross of Hydetown and Missy Drake and husband Dale of Titusville; daughter in law, Diane Proctor of Hydetown; nine grandchildren, Shasta Gisewhite and husband Brian of Titusville, Shelby Cancilla and husband Joe of Titusville, Rick Proctor and wife Michele of Mooresville, NC, Missy Proctor and companion Loran of Hays, KS, Deana Acheson and husband Aaron of Russell, KS, Shannon Proctor of Salem, OR, Bill Proctor and wife Laura of Vandenberg, CA, Trisha Drake and Olyvia Drake; four step-grandchildren, Eugene Sherman and wife Missy of Hubbard, OH, Clarence Sherman of Centerville, Michelle Snyder and husband Tim of Centerville, and Deanna Richardson of Hydetown; nineteen great grandchildren; several step-great grandchildren; one great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Leona was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons, William Proctor, Walter Proctor, and Richard E. “Butch” Proctor, Jr.; three brothers, Albert Firster, Charles Firster, and Donald Firster; two sisters, Margaret Goodwill and Violet Allen. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington Street, from 3-6 PM on Friday and attend the funeral service there on Saturday at 3:00 PM with Rev. Jeff Sterling officiating. Inurnment will be at Jerusalem Corners Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hydetown Volunteer Fire Department, 12666 Main St. # 14, Titusville, PA 16354 and the Hydetown Baptist Church, 12749 Main Street, Titusville, PA 16354.
