Obituary of Wilbert E. Wright

Mr. Wilbert E. “Dutch” Wright, 81, died August 30, 2014, peacefully at home with his beloved wife at his side, after a 14 year battle with cancer. He was born August 3, 1933, in Titusville, the son of Earl and Alice Foote Wright. He was a first class welder and moved to Rock Springs, WY in 1972, to work on the Jim Bridger Power Plant. He started his own welding business in 1981 and retired in 2000. He loved anything to do with the outdoors. He and wife Barbara spent many years on horseback exploring the Bridger Wilderness, but he was always willing to share his experiences and expertise with his friends. After retiring he got into gold prospecting and metal detecting and looked forward to spending time in the mountains and Arizona with his wife and friends. Wilbert is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara, who lives in Rock Springs, WY; four children, Fawn McLaughlin and husband Dale, Mark Wright and wife Karen, Holly Allen and husband Dewayne all of Titusville, and Steve Wright of Rock Springs, WY; four step daughters, Norma Hoke, Janet Birchard and husband Bernie, Patty Hawthorne and husband Randy, and Cathy Shambaugh all of Titusville; 22 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Harlan Wright, and a sister who died in infancy. Dutch was one of a kind. He was loved and remembered by everyone he met. He has left a big hole in many lives. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., on Monday from Noon to 2 PM with a service to follow conducted by Rev. William Hopkins, Officiating. Interment will be in Kerr Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations in his memory be made to Cowboys Against Cancer, 1893 Dewar Dr., Rock Springs, WY 82901 or a charity of your choice.
