Obituary of Michael W. Andrako
Mr. Michael W. Andrako, 87, of 714 Superior St. died Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 8:43 PM at his residence.
Michael was born in Titusville on February 25, 1927 to the late Michael and Antonia Kalamon Andrako. He married Dorothy M. Rhoads on September 29, 1951.
He attended Titusville schools and was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy class of 1947. He attended Chicago Technical Institute for certification as a machinist.
Michael was a veteran having served in the US Army during WWII. He entered the service in Pittsburgh on May 14, 1945 and was honorably discharged on October 6, 1946 in Ft. Dix, NJ.
He worked as a machinist for Cyclops Specialty Steel until his retirement.
Michael was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion, and the PNA. He loved to play shuffle board, walking and biking, watching Notre Dame and Penn St. football games. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was a member of St. Walburga Church.
Michael is survived by his wife Dorothy of 63 years, four children, Steven M. Andrako and wife Sharon of Titusville, Patricia O’Rouke and husband Richard or Titusville, Mary Matuszewski and husband Thomas of Middle Village, NY, and Michele Smeal and husband John of Big Run, PA; a daughter in law Susan Andrako of Titusville; 16 grandchildren, Stephanie Sines, John O’Rouke, Jenn Mallory, Shauna Rodgers, Michael Andrako, Travis Brooks, Kevin Andrako, Barbara Matuszkewski, Stacy Clarke, Lauri Craft, Tommy Matuszkewski, Nikki Andrako, Samantha Jackson, Jonathan Smeal, Jeremy Smeal, and Brandon Smeal; 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Michael was preceded in death by a daughter Barbara Andrako , a son Thomas Andrako, a grandson Corey Brooks, one sister Sophie Schneider, and six brothers, Frank, Harry, Andrew, John, Steve, and Joseph Andrako.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. on Tuesday (Today) from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Walburga Church with Fr. Walter E. Packard Pastor of the Catholic Community of Titusville as Celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Catharine’s Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the officers of Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW and Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion.
