Obituary of Robert M. Ludwick
Mr. Robert M. Ludwick, 85, of Titusville passed away at 4:42 PM on Monday, September 29, 2014, at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie.
Mr. Ludwick was born on August 14, 1929, in Titusville to the late J. Paul and Laura MacNaughton Ludwick. He married Marjorie Harrison on February 24, 1951, at the First Presbyterian Church in Titusville. Mrs. Ludwick preceded him in death on February 23, 1994. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, John “Jack” Ludwick and George “Wendell” Ludwick.
He was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1947.
Mr. Ludwick was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the US Army from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953.
He returned to Titusville and his employment with Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. He began working has a bricklayer. After more than 40 years of service, he retired as Superintendent of the maintenance division. During his younger years, he was a co-owner with his brothers of the Powder Horn Café. Robert also owned a painting business during the 1970-80’s.
Robert was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion, B.P.O Elks #264, Titusville Lodge No. 754 F&AM, Oil City Lodge of Perfection, New Castle Consistory and the Zem Zem Shrine in Erie.
Mr. Ludwick enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, traveling, investing in stocks, working around the house, but most especially being surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his fiancé, Maxine Penick Wheeler of Titusville; 5 children, Debi Sutley and husband David of Titusville, Linda Williamson and husband Jamie of Wake Forest, NC, Bill Ludwick and wife Theresa of Yardley, PA, Dr. Jeff Ludwick and wife Kristia of Mechanicsburg, Craig Ludwick and wife Katherine of York; 12 grandchildren, Chad Sutley, Adam Sutley, Matthew Sutley, Jena Sutley, Joey Wagner, Lisa Windsor, Allison Ludwick, Dylan Ludwick, Sadie Ludwick, Chloe Ludwick, Ryan Ludwick, Rachel Ludwick; and 11 great-grandchildren
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Thursday, October 2nd, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, October 3rd at 11:00 AM, with Mr. Thomas Newcombe, Assistant to the Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with Full Military Rites observed by officers and member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW and Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion.
