Obituary of Julia Elizabeth Culbertson

After living a life full of blessings, Julia Elizabeth Campbell Culbertson of Rolling Fields Alternative Home in Conneautville, PA and formerly of the Diamond/Titusville area, was granted the desire of her heart—to be with Jesus, her husband, and her mom—on October 10, 2014 at the age of 93. Julia was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania on September 9, 1921 to Andrew Levi and Mary Alta Anderson Campbell. She married Robert George Culbertson on June 8, 1940 at the Methodist Church in Townville, Pennsylvania. After sharing 72 years of marriage, Bob left to be with Jesus on May 10, 2013. Mrs. Culbertson is survived by her seven children: Mrs. George (Jean) Rawson of Meadville; Mrs. Joseph (Fran) Gores of Memphis, Michigan; Mrs. Jerry (Linda) Alsdorf of Centerville; Mrs. Donald (Nancy) Copeland of Albion; Mrs. Ronald (Mary Jane) Stechenfinger of Dayton, Ohio; R. Dean Culbertson and his wife, Linda, of Cochranton; and Stephen Culbertson and his wife, Ann, of Titusville. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Julia was preceded in death by four siblings: Earl Campbell, James Campbell, Teresa Campbell, and Ada Campbell Moore. After graduating from Titusville High School where she was a member of one of the first girls’ basketball teams, Mrs. Culbertson worked at several jobs, but was mainly a homemaker. When at home, Julia was known for her wonderful pies, homemade bread, and “Grandma’s Cinnamon Rolls.” She enjoyed camping trips with her husband and spent many weekends at local campgrounds, with her family visiting the “Culbertson Campsite.” Julia was a member of the Chapmanville Community Church where she served as a board member and Sunday School teacher. She also participated as a member of the Townville Area Senior Citizens where she and Bob enjoyed many outings and were crowned King and Queen in 2000. Julia especially appreciated her flower and vegetable gardens, time spent playing with her grandchildren, and spending time in prayer for her children and for her wonderful caregivers at the nursing home. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at the Chapmanville Community Church on Monday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jerry Alsdorf of the Mt. Pleasant Chapel, Rev. Ronald Stechenfinger, and Rev. Glen Van Cise of the Chapmanville Community Church officiating. Interment will be in East Troy Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chapmanville Community Church, 1043 Le Boeuf Trail Road, Titusville, PA 16354.
