Obituary of Elmer G. Snow
Mr. Elmer G. Snow, 89, formerly of Centerville passed away at 3:30 PM on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at Country Acres Personal Care Home in Titusville. He had been a resident there for the past couple years.
Mr. Snow was born on February 15, 1925, to Louis and Loie Lilly Snow.
He attended schools in the Centerville area.
Mr. Snow was a veteran of the US Navy having served during World War II. He entered the service in May of 1944, and was involved in the battle of Okinawa. He was honorably discharged in May of 1946.
He was formerly a self-employed dairy farmer until 1969 when he went to work delivering milk to the Titusville Dairy and also worked at Matteson’s Equipment.
Mr. Snow was a member of the Centerville Baptist Church and the Centerville area American Legion.
He enjoyed woodworking, making furniture for the family and gardening. He especially loved spending time with his family and nieces and nephews.
Mr. Snow is survived by his wife Shirley Kertcher Snow also a resident of Country Acres Personal Care Home; two sons, Gary Snow and his wife Nancy of Centerville, Lester Snow and his wife Debbie of Sacramento, CA; four grandchildren, Adam Snow of Erie, Ryan Snow and wife Denise of Meadville, Nicholas Snow of Sacramento, CA, Caitlin Kessler and husband Stewart of Sacramento, CA; a great-grandson, Tyler Snow of Erie; and a sister, Alice Winton of Centerville.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Fielding.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM with the service to follow conducted by retired Baptist minister Pastor Gary Kinnear and Rev. David Leninsky pastor of the Centerville Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Centerville.
