Obituary of Edward L. Waddingham
Edward L. Waddingham, 83, of Enterprise, passed away Saturday morning October 18, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Titusville.
Ed was born on November 4, 1930 in Titusville, a son of the late Paul and Effie Jones Waddingham. He was married to Patricia “Pat” Noonen on Feb. 10, 1956 in Rochester, PA.
He was a graduate of the Titusville High School, class of 1949.
Ed was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He entered the service on Jan. 2, 1951 at Erie, PA. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 6, 1954 at Ft. Belvoir, VA with the rank of corporal. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for injuries received in combat.
Ed had been employed at the former Cytemp Specialty Steel Corp. in Titusville for over thirty years until his retirement in 1988.
He had attended the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Titusville Lodge No. 754 F.&A.M.; a member of the Oil City Lodge of Perfection; and a member of the New Castle Consistory. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, making birdhouses, and spending time with his family.
Ed is survived by his wife of Enterprise; four children, Kathy Holquist and husband Daniel of Cranberry Twp., Richard Waddingham of Jersey City, NJ, Carol Vetrano and husband James of Geneseo, NY, and Dawna Martz and husband Rodney of Brookville; seven grandchildren, Adam Holquist and wife Martine, Shannon Hughes and husband Ryan, Ryan Holquist, Sarah Klinczar and husband Daniel, Michael Vetrano and wife Kristen, Casey and Stephen Martz; two great grandchildren, Stella Holquist and Ana Klinczar; a brother-in-law, William Bush of Okeechobee, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Bradley Holquist; two sisters, Dorothy Proper and Dora Bush; and a brother-in-law, Walter Proper.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and attend the funeral service on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jamie Fowler, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Kerr Hill Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church, The American Cancer Society, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
