Obituary of Edith Shrout
Mrs. Edith R. “Sparkie” Shrout, 84, formerly of Tituvsille, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Oil City.
Mrs. Shrout was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 26, 1930 to the late James and Cecile Shreve Munn.
She graduated from Union City High School in 1948. She was also a graduate of the Meadville City Hospital School of Nursing in 1954.
Mrs. Shrout had been employed as a registered nurse at the Titusville Hospital, the former Sylvania Plant, and also at the former Sharp Convalescent Home for several years.
She was a long-time member of the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the church choir, and was a current member of the Titusville United Methodist Church. She also belonged to the Titusville BPW since 1955, and of the R.S.V.P. She loved taking care of her inside plants, spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling, and made a great chocolate fudge.
Mrs. Shrout is survived by her two sons, Alan “Rick” Shrout and wife Maloy of Oil City, and Bruce Oliver Shrout of Saegertown; six grandchildren, Timothy Shrout and wife Kari of Ashville, NY, Amy Pearce and husband Kaisen of Erie, Alanna Shrout of Tampa, FL, Erika Shrout of Altoona, Richard Beach of Franklin, and Barbra Beach of Columbia, MD; four great grandchildren, Max Shrout, Gage and Kyla Woodward, and Sophia Beach; a niece, Susan Hartshorne and husband B.J.; and two nephews, Jon and Jim Munn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James S. Munn.
No calling hours will be observed. A private service will be conducted for the family.
Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Union City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasantville Presbyterian or Titusville United Methodist Churches, or to the charity of one’s choice.
