Obituary of Donald R. Kerr

Mr. Donald R. Kerr, 71, of 44291 Thompson Run Road, Titusville, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at 12:54 a.m., at the Meadville Medical Center. Don was born on June 4, 1943, in Titusville, to the late Rulin and Ernestine Brown Kerr. He married Jean Alsdorf on July 12, 1969, in Spartansburg. He attended Titusville schools, and was a graduate of Titusville High School, Class of 1962. Don owned and operated his own dairy farm for many years. He still enjoyed working with his son on the farm. He was a member, elder and Sunday school teacher at Spartansburg Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Don was a member of the PA Farm Bureau, and was Oil Creek Township supervisor for the last 17 years. He enjoyed doing custom saw mill work for his friends’ projects, and always had time to spend with his friends and neighbors who stopped by. He is survived by his wife, Jean, of 45 years; two children, Konrad R. Kerr and wife, Monica, of Titusville, and Kyle W. Kerr and wife, Emily, of Centerville; eight grandchildren, Allyssa, Desirae and Ethan Kerr, of Titusville, and Kaleb, Zachary, Benjamin, Levi and Joshua Kerr, of Centerville; one brother, Allen Kerr, and wife, Linda; four sisters, Pauline Cline and husband, Robert, Janet Buser and husband, Thomas, Nancy Gafner and husband, Ronald, and Karen Orwig and husband ,Tom; a sister-in-law, Melanie Bachman, and husband, Mark; two brothers-in-law, Joel Alsdorf and wife, Margaret, and Jerry Alsdorf and wife, Linda; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Marion and Maude Porter Alsdorf. No public calling hours will be observed. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, at Spartansburg Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. A memorial service will be conducted at noon, with Pastor Neil Beckerink and Pastor Jerry Alsdorf officiating.
