Obituary of Ralph H. Howe

Mr. Ralph H. Howe, Sr., 77, formerly of State Hwy 408 in Titusville passed away at 6:55 PM on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at the Golden LivingCenter in Titusville. Mr. Howe was born on February 22, 1937, in Titusville to the late Raymond H. and Cora Overmoyer Howe. He married Mary Goodwill on June 9, 1956, at the Hydetown Baptist Church. Mrs. Howe preceded him in death on May 17, 2012. He was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1955. He was a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Howe entered the service on October 1, 1961 and was honorably discharged on Dec. 3, 1965, with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Howe was employed for 21 years with the City of Titusville Police Department. He retired in 1990, with the rank of Lieutenant. He also was the owner of Howe’s Gunsmith and Lock Repair, as well as, Titusville Radiator and Battery. Over the years he also worked for Reliable Builders, Struthers Wells, Grand Valley Manufacturing, Dailey and Kocan Chevrolet, and Morrison’s Builders Supply. He was a member of the Hydetown Baptist Church where he served as a trustee, taught Sunday school and attended the Men’s Fellowship class. Ralph was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, Fraternal Order of Police where he was a Past President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, and Trustee of F.O.P #50. His memberships over the years also included the Oil City Moose Club and Lions Club. Mr. Howe is survived by 4 children, Lucinda Wagner and husband Don of Titusville, Raymond “Randy” Howe of Franklin, Amy Sue Baney and husband Larry of Waterford, Ralph H. Howe, Jr. and wife Renea of Titusville; 10 grandchildren, DJ Wagner and wife Shel, Tracy Smith and husband Jason, Nicole Howe and companion Jason Barker, Sheena Biggerstaff and boyfriend Dave Coulter, Lucy Wagner and companion Jamie Hynes, Brittany York and husband Eric, Justin Howe, Ashli Chrispen, Calista Howe, Trenton Chrispen; 8 great-grandchildren, Jessica Bacon, Joshua Winkleman, Takoda Wagner, Kaleb Sopher, Bella Biggerstaff, Cameron Sopher, Elizabeth Hynes, Sadien York; 4 great-great grandchildren, Brandon Francis, Bentleigh Bacon, Blake Bacon, Bryson Bacon; a brother, Kenneth L. Howe and wife Darlene of Sturdivant, WI; 2 sisters, Betty Kinkade of Titusville, Linda Burrows of NY and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Howe; and a sister Mary Howe who died in infancy. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Further visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Hydetown Baptist Church on Monday with the service to follow conducted by Rev. Jeffrey Sterling, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
