Obituary of Vincent Socha

Mr. Vincent “Vince” Socha, 87, formerly of W. Spruce St., in Titusville passed away at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Southwoods Assisted Living Community. Mr. Socha was born on April 6, 1927, in Oil City to the late Joseph and Mary Niemiec Socha. He married Gaynell Dalton on September 3, 1955 at St. Walburga Church. Mrs. Socha preceded him in death on November 25, 1996. On July 20, 1999, he married Penny Turpin Muir at St. Titus Church. She preceded him in death on April 6, 2013. He graduated from Oil City High School and served in the US Navy during World War II. Mr. Socha was formerly employed by as blender for Wolfs Head and Pennzoil. He retired after many years with the company in 1987. He was a member of St. Titus Church. Mr. Socha enjoyed bowling with the Titusville Men’s League. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Louise Noel and husband William of Woodbridge, VA, Karen Marie Socha of Canadohta Lake; a brother, Val Socha and wife Joan of Reno; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Socha of Oil City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Socha was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Socha; six brothers, Frank, Joseph, Michael, Anthony, John and Stanley Socha; and a sister, Caroline Ross. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Titus Church with Fr. Walter E. Packard, pastor of the Catholic Community of Titusville as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Crawford Co. 406 W.
