Obituary of Robert L. Rubaker
Robert L. Rubaker, 70, of 39918 Gilson St. Centerville, died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at the Meadville Medical Center following a battle with cancer.
Mr. Rubaker was born on Sept. 9, 1939 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of the late Herman and Margaret Rodgers Rubaker. He was married to Rosemary Sell on March 13, 1971 at Centerville.
Mr. Rubaker was a graduate of Perry High School in Pittsburgh, class of 1958.
He had been employed as a barber for a number of years in Pittsburgh and was last employed at the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville in the maintenance department.
He was a believer of the Bible and was formerly assistant to Pastor George Ruth at Power of the Word Ministries at the former Tionesta location.
He enjoyed construction projects as a hobby; spending summers at Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada with his family visiting his many friends there that he had become acquainted with over the years. He enjoyed singing gospel songs, hunting, fishing, gardening and camping.
He was a former Deputy Game Commissioner; was active in the Boy Scouts of America as a scout leader; and was a former member of the Titusville Lions Club. He enjoyed his special time with his friends at The Oaks.
Mr. Rubaker is survived by his wife of Centerville; two sons, Robert L. Rubaker, Jr. and his wife Tina of Houston, PA and Ryan L. Rubaker and his wife Michelle of Centerville; 6 grandchildren, Angelo, Amanda, Bethany, Grace, Jenna and Mariah Rubaker; 2 step grandsons, Alan and Bryan Dague; a brother, George Rubaker and his wife Norma of Mars, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Rubaker.
No public calling hours will be observed. Friends may attend a memorial service on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home with Pastor George Ruth of Power of the Word Ministries, officiating.
Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
