Obituary of Earl M. Prather

Mr. Earl Mason Prather, 81, of 18624 Taylor Stand Rd., Centerville died at 5:25 PM on Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Titusville Area Hospital shortly after his arrival. Mr. Prather was born on May 26, 1929 in Titusville to the late Jesse L. and Florence E. Mason Prather. He married Jean A. Koch on April 2, 1955. . He was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1949. Mr. Prather was a veteran of the Korean War. He served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953 when he was honorably discharged. He was formerly employed for 27 years with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as an equipment operator. He retired on Dec. 19, 1992. Mr. Prather was a member of the Centerville Community Baptist Church and the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW. He enjoyed doing genealogy, gardening, planting trees, and working in the woods cutting firewood. Mr. Prather is survived by his wife Jean Prather of Centerville; four children, Lynne Ellen Fabian and her husband Kenneth of Grayson, GA, Wendy Elaine Prather of Snellville, GA, Kenneth Erwin Prather and his wife Roberta of Boston, Mass, Douglas Earl Prather and his wife Darlene of Jackson, MI; five grandchildren, Frances Fabian, Hannah Fabian, Rebecca Fabian, Heidi Fabian, Amanda Prather; and a sister, Betty Ford and her husband M. Dean of Carnegie. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas L. Prather. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Monday from 7 to 9 PM, and on Tuesday from 10 to 11 AM at which time the funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Gary Kinnear of the Breedtown Baptist Church and Pastor David Leninsky of the Centerville Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Centerville with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Centerville Baptist Church Rt. 8, Centerville, PA 16404. FLOWERS
