Obituary of Leon Bruce Myers
Mr. Leon Bruce Myers, Sr., 77, of 188 Myers Lane Titusville, died at 1:10 PM on Thursday February 5, 2015.
Leon was born on November 18, 1937 in Titusville to the late Grant and Mabel McCall Myers. He had spent the last 18 years with his companion Phyllis Chevalier.
He attended Titusville Schools.
Leon worked as a machinist for Grand Valley Manufacturing in Titusville, Oil Well Supply in Oil City and was last employed at Vertical Seal before his retirement.
He worked his entire life on his farm raising beef cows.
Leon enjoyed hunting and fishing and taking trips to Canada to fish with his nephews. He loved being on his farm with his animals and going to local auctions with his Geard. In his younger years he showed horses and was in charge of his family owned riding stables.
He is survived by his four children, Cynthia Coogan and husband Terence of Titusville, Debra Parkin and husband Donald of Union City, Douglas Grant Myers and wife Lori of Union City, and Leon Bruce Myers, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Titusville; seven grandchildren, Terence “TJ” Coogan, Jr., Joshua Parkin and wife Jamie, Jeremy Parkin, Ryan Myers, Megan Myers, Kyle Myers, Brody Myers and an expected grandchild in March; two great grandchildren Jayden and Kristen Parkin; one brother, Gerald Myers of Titusville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Leon was preceded in death by a son Brian Ernest Myers; a brother, Grant “June” Myers, and two sisters, Elsie Lavena Swab and Mary Loney; one sister in law Joyce Myers.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bill Hopkins, Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene in Oil City, Officiating.
Interment will be at Jamison Corners Cemetery.
