Obituary of Betty M. Squire

The community of Titusville lost Miss Betty M. Squire on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 following a lengthy health battle. Betty was born on October 13, 1941 at Ridgway, PA, the first born of the late Margaret Kathryn Merkle and John Russell Squire. She was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1959. Betty had been a member of many community organizations including the Titusville Lions Club; the Caboose Motel; Drake Well Museum; and Crawford County CVB. She was the first lady president of the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce, and was one of the founders of the Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad. She enjoyed giving to these organizations as well as many others. She was known for her employment at the former Tiegs Home Furnishings from 1959 until its closing and also at the former Robinsons Wallcoverings where she served as vice president of the business. Betty is survived by the following siblings; Sally A. Deeter of Union City, Mary J. Reib of Ohio, Patsy L. Crissman of Sligo, Carol J. Mulford of Titusville, Boyd James Watson and wife Mary of Titusville, Abigail Cindy L. Gwin of Titusville, and John H. Gwin and companion Diane Gallagher of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her. No public calling hours will be observed. The family will be hosting a memorial service at the Oil Creek and Titusville Railroad Perry Street Station at a date and time to be announced. In honor of Betty’s dedication to Titusville and the Oil Creek and Titusville Railroad, the family requests that memorials be made to the Oil Creek and Titusville Railroad 7 Elm Street Oil City, PA 16301.
