Obituary of Howard L. Roberts

Howard L. Roberts, 83, of 912 E. Main St. Titusville, passed away Tuesday evening March 17, 2015 at Marquette Hospice House in Meadville. Howard was born on July 23, 1931 at Toledo, OH, a son of the late Lynn and Emma Stumpf Roberts. He was married to Nancy Manelick on August 9, 1958 at St. Walburga Church. Howard was a graduate of the Pleasantville High School, class of 1949. He was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He entered the service on Nov. 20, 1952 at Pittsburgh, PA and was honorably discharged on Nov. 19, 1954 at Ft. Eustis, VA with the rank of corporal. He had been employed at the former Cytemp Specialty Steel Corp. from where he retired. He had also been employed at the former Trans Penn Oil Co. Howard was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church at Mageetown. He was also a 3rd degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and the outdoors, as well as spending time with his family. He enjoyed helping others. Howard is survived by his wife of Titusville; three children, Randall Roberts and wife Christine of Fayetteville, TN, Alan Roberts and wife Dana of Natrona Heights, PA, and Kelly Popieski and husband Ted of Titusville; the following grandchildren, Rochelle, Andrew, Makenzie, Kalista, Keegan, Ethan and Jadon Roberts, Daniel Burdick and companion Maria Davis, Scott Burdick, and Bethany Popieski; a step-grandson, Joseph Hoffer; a great grandson, Cayden Roberts; a sister-in-law, Mary Jean Roberts of Aliquippa; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Roberts and a sister, Charlotte Allis. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Church 17932 Wright Road Centerville with Fr. John Detisch, as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery with full military rites. The family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County 406 W. Oak St. Titusville, PA 16354.
