Obituary of Frank H. Rodgers

Frank H. Rodgers, 96, a resident of the Golden Living Center in Warren, passed away there on Monday morning, March 23, 2015 following an extended illness. Frank was born on November 19, 1918 at Rouseville, a son of the late Thomas and Leona Fogle Rodgers. He was married to Betty Vanderhoff on Dec. 22, 1940 in Brookville. Frank was a graduate of the Pleasantville High School. He was a veteran having served in the US Army during World War II. He entered the service on Dec. 29, 1944 at Erie, PA. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 31, 1946 at Ft. George G. Meade, MD with the rank of technician. Frank had been employed as a mechanic most of his life. He worked for Greer’s Trucking in Centerville for a number of years from where he retired. He had also owned Rodgers Brothers Garage in Riceville. In his younger years he had worked in the oil fields at Pithole. Frank was a member of both the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW and of the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion. He enjoyed hunting; his dogs; the outdoors; and being with his family. Frank is survived by his wife Betty of Warren; three children, Robert Rodgers and wife Linda of Lady Lake, FL, Joyce Edwards and companion Lewis Migdal of Warren, and Karen Rodgers and companion Kelly Whitmire of Warren; five grandchildren, Robert Rodgers, Jr. and wife Linda of Deltona, FL, Carla Ferry and husband Jack of Warren, Carrie Kinnear and companion Jerod Whitmer, Angela Pizer and husband William of Corry, and Sherry Hartle of Marienville; 8 great grandchildren, Kristofer and Alexander Pizer, Amber, Autumn and Vanessa Ferry, Jack Rodgers, Mary Phelps, and Easton Whitmer; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Edward Rodgers; a grandson, Jason Rodgers; a great grandson, Thomas Phelps; a brother, William Rodgers; and three sisters, Maxine Carlberg, Jocelyn Holtz, and Marie Beason. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Mr. Troy Ehrhart officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the local veterans organizations. Interment will be in Riceville Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be made to the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW 206 Saint John St. Titusville, PA 16354.
