Obituary of John A. Madden
John A. “Pete” Madden passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at UPMC Hamot following an extended illness.
Pete was born August 30, 1946, in Titusville to the late John “Jack” and Jean Madden. On February 15, 1969 he married Nancy Ross of Corry.
He served in the United States Navy as a jet mechanic.
Pete drove truck for 20 years before being employed as the Traffic Manager at Charter Plastics Inc. for 16 years. He was the owner of John A. Madden Trucking, Skin and Scuba, and Johnson Tire Sales.
He enjoyed scuba diving and was a NAUI certified scuba instructor. He also watched NASCAR and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.
Pete was a member of Immaculate Conception Mission, Roman Catholic Church and a previous member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958, VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his four children, Lori Elmquist and husband Brian of Sheffield, Shane Madden, Patrick Madden and wife Heather, and Megan Madden all of Titusville; his 8 grandchildren, Jacob Elmquist, Emily, Nicole and Jack Madden, Anna Bauer, Peyton, Kyler and Madeline Madden. He is also survived by a brother, Robert Madden and his wife Sandy of Titusville as well as uncles, cousins, nephews and a niece.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis Madden.
Friends may call at the Hennes-Garrett Funeral Home 203 E. Main St., Titusville today (Thursday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM from the Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Scott Jabo, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Catharine’s Cemetery with full military rites observed.
