Obituary of Nicholas A. Neely
Nicholas A. “Sonny” Neely, Sr., 71, of 525 W. Hemlock St. Titusville, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Mr. Neely was born on October 28, 1943 in Meadville, a son of the late Nicholas and Alice Neimi Neely. He was married to Judith Ann Woodcock on January 8, 1972 at Vernon Twp. She preceded him in death on February 7, 2014.
Mr. Neely had been a truck driver most of his life. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict having served in the US Army.
He was a member of the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion and of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW. He was also a member of the Italian Civic Club and of the Eagles Club in Meadville. He enjoyed driving cars to the auction for various auto dealers. He enjoyed watching dirt track racing and attending his grandchildrens’ sporting events.
He is survived by the following children; Nicholas A. Neely, Jr. and wife Kimberly, Fred Neely and wife Barb, Theodore Neely and wife Julie, Tammy Neely, and Michelle Neely, all of Titusville; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; a step-great granddaughter; three brothers, George Neely and wife Brenda, Jack Neely and wife Bobbie, and Terry Neely, all of Meadville; two sisters, Joyce Collins and companion Wayne Smith of Meadville, and Lila Catapano and husband Mike of Buffalo,NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, David L. Neely; a granddaughter, Nichol Caldwell; and a sister, Nancy Hogue.
No calling hours will be observed. A memorial service and military rites will be conducted at a later date.
The family asks that memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice.
