Obituary of Ray A. Walters

Mr. Ray A. Walters, 92, of 117 Miles Rd. Titusville, died Wednesday evening October 20, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Titusville. Mr. Walters was born on March 6, 1918 at Oakland Twp., Venango County, a son of the late Benjamin and Maggie Reese Walters. He was married to Celia Proper on July 3, 1939 who preceded him in death in April of 1976. He later married the former Erla Harman in August of 1978 who also preceded him in death in May of 1999. Mr. Walters had been employed at various local companies working on oil well leases. Mr. Walters enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and woodworking. He is survived by a son, Ralph Walters and his wife Diane of Pleasantville; a daughter, Ruth Ann Brown and her husband Richard of Titusville; a step-daughter, Gloria Dolan and her husband Richard of Bradleytown; 12 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ruth Walters of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by a son, Ray Walters, Jr.; and infant daughter, Wanda Lee Walters; three brothers, Benjamin, William and Richard Walters; and a sister, Ella Thomas. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service on Sunday at 3:30 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Clyde Cooper, interim pastor of the Pleasantville Full Gospel Church, officiating. Interment will be in Wallaceville Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice.
