Obituary of Pearl S. Davis
Pearl S. Davis, 89, of 180 Meadville Road Titusville, passed away Thursday afternoon April 16, 2015.
Pearl was born on September 24, 1925 at Dempseytown, a daughter of the late William and Lillian Penny Smalley. She was married to Glenn L. Davis on May 1, 1945. They were married for 63 years until his death on August 5, 2008. She continued to live at home and was active in the community until her recent illness.
She attended Dempseytown High School and graduated valedictorian of her class.
Pearl was the office manager for Glenn Davis Lumber Company for 40 years. She worked as a proofreader for the Titusville Herald, and for Lee Edwards State Farm Insurance Agency.
Pearl was a charter member of the Chapmanville Community Church and served as a Sunday school teacher. Her faith in God and her love of family and friends never wavered throughout her long and blessed life.
She was a member of the Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She was an accomplished seamstress, knitter, crocheter, and cook. She and Glenn were members of the card club and camera club. They spent 17 winters in Ruskin, Florida.
She is survived by four children; Linda Griffin and husband Joe of Winterville, NC, Glenn A. Davis of Centerville, James D. Davis and wife Clare of Kirtland, OH, and LuAnn Bossard and husband Bill of Centerville; six grandchildren, Donna Miller and husband Walter, Darrell and Michael Bossard, Bryant Davis, Forest Davis and Clay Davis; a great granddaughter, Alice Miller; a sister, Nancy Thomas and husband Tom of Polk; a brother, James Smalley and wife Carol of Dempseytown; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Pearl was preceded in death by sisters, Doris Smalley, Myrtle Smalley and Evelyn Eaton; and brothers, David, William O., Paul, and Fred Smalley.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Sunday from 3 to 7 PM. Further visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Chapmanville Community Church at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. Glen Van Cise, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery in Dempseytown.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Chapmanville Community Church or to the Lamey Cemetery Association.
