Obituary of Florence B. Wightman
Following a long illness, Florence B. Wightman went home to her Savior on Saturday morning May 9, 2015 at the Blair Hospice Residence in Warren, PA.
She was born on August 12, 1928 at Wellsville, NY to the late Midge C. and Alice Woodard Burlingame. She was married to Willard M. Wightman on December 27, 1947. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1972.
Mrs. Wightman was a graduate of Richburg Central School, class of 1946 and a graduate of Olean Business Institute in 1973. She had worked in various clerical positions in the Olean, NY area including Both, Branch, and Hendrix Insurance Agency, Olean Credit Bureau, The Olean Tile Credit Union, and the Cattaraugus County Department of Aging. She had also worked at Olean General Hospital.
As a member of Faith Bible Church in Little Genesee, NY for many years, she served as church treasurer and organist before moving to Pleasantville, PA. She had also been a Camp Fire Girl leader and was active in their summer day camp program for a time. While living in Pennsylvania, she continued to enjoy sewing, spending time with her family, and serving her church family at the Pleasantville Free Methodist Church.
Mrs. Wightman is survived by two daughters, Katherine Gross and husband Rodney of Lewis Run, PA and Jacalyn Ongley and husband Alan of Pittsfield, PA; a grandson, Jerrod Ongley of Pittsfield; a granddaughter, Janell Yorkowitz and husband Christopher of Shelby, OH; a brother-in-law, Ben Brunetto of Salamanca, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances A. Brunetto.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A memorial service will be conducted at the Faith Bible Church 8137 Route 417 Little Genesee, NY on Tuesday at 1:00 PM with Rev. Clint Pearsall officiating.
Interment will be in Richburg Cemetery, Richburg, NY.
