Obituary of William A. Maseman

William A. “Bill” Maseman, 82, of Titusville, passed away Sunday afternoon May 31, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Bill was born on July 9, 1932 in Titusville, a son of the late William and Elizabeth Brecht Maseman. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Louise and Austin Kleean. He was married to Judith McDonnell on August 10, 1957 in Titusville. Bill was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1950 and had attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was assigned to the U.S. Forces Austria, Occupational Duty, 70th Engineers at Saalfelden. Bill had been employed at the Forge Works and Universal Cyclops prior to working as a salesman for Edward Don & Company of Chicago, IL, a food service equipment and supply company, for 50 years. Bill spent the summers at the family cottage on Chautauqua Lake for 25 years where he enjoyed boating and fishing. He was a member of the former St. Paul’s United Church of Christ where he served as an elder, and was a current member of the Titusville First Presbyterian Church. Bill is survived by his wife of Titusville; a son, Jeffrey A. Maseman and wife Faye of Titusville; his beloved granddaughter, Autumn Elizabeth Maseman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and his aunt and uncle, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. John A. Maseman; and a nephew, John Maseman, Jr. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 noon with Dr. Terry Purvis-Smith, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. The family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County 406 W. Oak St. Titusville, PA 16354. The family wishes to express their special thanks to the Hospice team for their care of Bill.
