Obituary of Willis J. McAlevy

Mr. Willis J. McAlevy, 85, of 430 Roberts St. Titusville passed away at 7:12 PM on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at the Golden LivingCenter in Titusville. Willis was born on February 14, 1930, at Diamond a son of the late Ralland and Lizzie Proper McAlevy. He married Jean Giffin on September 18, 1951, in Titusville. He was a graduate of Townville High School, class of 1950, where he was the class valedictorian. Willis was a veteran having served in the US Army from April 9, 1951, until his honorable discharge on April 9, 1953. He was employed by the former Struthers Wells Corp. and after the closing of the plant began working in the hot mill at Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. until his retirement in 1995. During those years he also worked for Leo Bly Construction for many years. Willis was a member of St. Walburga Church. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed working on the family farms over the years, taking meticulous care of his lawn, and helping out his family and friends. Willis is survived by his wife, Jean McAlevy of Titusville; two daughters, Patricia Schneider and husband Ed of Titusville and Catherine Huffman and husband R. Joseph of Grand Valley; 7 grandchildren, Joseph Schneider and wife Darla of Union City, Derek Schneider and wife Jessica of Cranberry Twp., Jamie Schneider and wife Michelle of Irvin, David Schneider and wife Jessica of Titusville, Travis Huffman and fiance Christie of Townville, Jessie Johnson and husband David of Russell, Shane Huffman and wife Leslie of Grand Valley; 13 great grandchildren, Tyler Schneider, MyKaela and Ciara Schneider, Bryce and Ian Schneider, Blake and Brant Schneider, Anden, Gaige and Braxton Huffman, Carter Johnson, Kaylee and Aubree Huffman; 2 step great grandsons, Macoy Elias and fiancé Jessica, Mason Elias; a step great- great granddaughter, Peyton; two sisters-in-law, Hazel McAlevy of Centerville and Lois McAlevy of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Heather Schneider; four brothers, Clarence, Clifford, Norman and Kenneth McAlevy; and a sister, Edith Carle. Friends may call at the Hennes-Garrett Funeral Home 203 E. Main St. on Monday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM with the service to follow conducted by Rev. Mark Rusnak with Asera Care Hospice, officiating. Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery.
