Obituary of Charles William Anderson

Mr. Charles William Anderson, 89, of Mageetown Rd., Centerville passed away at 12:45 AM on Monday, July 27, 2015, at his residence surrounded by family. Mr. Anderson was born on March 28, 1926, in Titusville to the late Charles W. and Muriel Kerr Anderson. He married Joyce Paul on November 9, 1944, in Cumberland, MD and spent 71 wonderful years together. He attended Titusville area schools. Mr. Anderson was a veteran of the US Army having served in World War II. He entered the service on Feb. 26, 1944, and was honorably discharged on April 25, 1946, with the rank of Sergeant. He returned home and worked at the James H. Paul Lumber Company for 25 years and retired as the manager. Mr. Anderson and his wife enjoyed building 3 homes over the years. He also built his own airplane and both he and his wife had their pilot’s license. They also spent extensive time cruising on their boats from the Georgian Bay to the Caribbean and wintered in the Florida Keys and Darien, GA. He was an avid reader, a life member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, and a former member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife Joyce Anderson of Centerville; three children, C. Michael Anderson and wife Ronda of Arlington, VA, Cathy Anderson of Union City, Mark J. Anderson and wife Pam of Centerville; seven grandchildren, Mike (Angie) Anderson of PA, Kim Anderson of NC, Karen Anderson of NC, Steve (Kero) Anderson of VA, Lisa (Bill) Mangel of PA, Jeremy (Serena) Anderson of PA, Carrie Anderson of Scotland; eight great-grandchildren, Billy Anderson, Rosie Anderson, Nicholas Schneider, Aaron Schneider, Hunter Mangel, Brody Mangel, Katie Anderson, Kelsey Anderson; a brother, James K. Anderson and wife Helen of Centerville; and two brother-in-laws, James Stu Paul of Centerville and Mr. and Mrs. David Paul of VA. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Joyce Anderson who died in infancy. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Barry E. Cressman, officiating. Interment will be in Covenanter Cemetery.
