Obituary of Clifford L. Halfast
Mr. Clifford Leslie Halfast, Sr., 66, of Titusville died on Saturday, July 25th from injuries sustained when the motorcycle he and his wife were riding on was involved in an accident.
He was born in Corry, Pennsylvania on July 15th, 1949 to Raymond James Halfast, Sr. and Irene Audrey (Cook) Halfast. He was raised in Spartansburg, Pennsylvania and graduated from Sparta High School in 1967.
He married Barbara (Gilliland) Halfast, the mother of his children in 1969 and was drafted into the Army to serve in Vietnam, where he attained the rank of sergeant in the First Air Cavalry Division. During his service he received the good conduct medal, National Defense service medal, combat infantry badge, and Vietnam service medal. Upon his honorable discharge in 1971, he settled in Spartansburg to raise his family. They divorced in 1995. He married his wife Linda McGarvie Burger in 1997 and made his home in Titusville with her.
Clifford worked at Rogers Structural Steel in Corry, then later at Buffalo Structural Steel until his retirement on July 17, 2015.
Clifford was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW in Titusville, PA. He enjoyed playing video games with his family, going to his friends’ campgrounds, hunting and riding with his motorcycle group, Gold Wing Road Riders Association, PA Chapter N. He helped his wife with her daycare before she retired last year. He was also a HAM radio enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Halfast, of Titusville, four children, Stephanie (Mickey) Smith of Hampton, VA; Carla (Matthew) Nay of Frederick, MD; Caren (Stephen) Haug of King George, VA; and Clifford Halfast, Jr. of Corry, PA, and three step-children, Laura (Jason) Trost of Pleasantville, PA; Peter (Kaela) Saxton of Denver, CO; and Corey (Bokrye) Saxton of Bronx, NY. Clifford is also survived by six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren.
In addition, Clifford is also survived by three siblings, Larry (Trudy) Halfast, LeRoy (Susan) Halfast, and Marlene (Roger) Gilbert all of Spartansburg, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Raymond James Halfast, Jr.
Friends may call at the Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Friday, August 7th from 12:00 to 2:00 PM with the service to follow conducted by Pastor Matt Johnson of tfree Church of Titusville.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
