Obituary of Jean Ann Hamilton
Jean Ann Hamilton, age 77, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015 at her home with her family around her. She was born on September 18, 1937, in Titusville the daughter of the late Rex Holcomb and Marian Swanson Holcomb. A granddaughter of the late Raymond and Lena Holcomb.
Jean was a 1955 graduate of Townville High School.
Following graduation, she worked at Shryocks for a short time and then got married and was a stay at home mom. Later on, Jean and her former husband Keith Hamilton owned and operated Keith & Jean’s Superette for 12 years. She also worked for her son, Brian, at Happi Jax, BJ’s Lakeland Inn and finally at Brian’s Country Market as a “famous” cook.
Jean was a member of the Little Cooley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo and playing cards with her children and grandchildren. Jean recently became an avid watcher of NFL football and NHL hockey, with the Pittsburgh Penguins being her favorite team.
Jean is survived by her 3 children, Troy Hamilton of Cambridge Springs, Robin Graff of Meadville and her husband Tom Graff of Centerville, Sheila Bancroft and her husband Rory of Centerville, a daughter in-law Cheryl Hamilton of Centerville and Jean’s former husband, Keith Hamilton of Centerville; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Brian Hamilton, and infant grandchild, Zachary Hamilton, a sister, Nancy Swanson and a brother, Jack Holcomb of Nebraska.
Jean has eight grandchildren, Andy Hamilton and his wife Jess of Guys Mills, Adam Hamilton of Centerville, Emily Lucas and her husband Michael of Houston, Texas, Amanda Bowes and her husband Chris of Meadville, Garrett Graff and his wife Ashley of Pittsburgh, Nicholas Bancroft of Centerville, Matthew and Olivia Graff of Centerville, 2 step grandchildren, Justin Dreese and wife Maria of Townville, and Shelley Dreese of Harrisburg. Jean also had 3 great grandchildren, Bradley and Brooke Hamilton and Benson Lucas and 1 great step-grandchild, Oliver Dreese.
No calling hours will be observed. A private memorial service will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Little Cooley United Methodist Church, with Pastor John Smith, officiating.
