Obituary of Floyd F. Sittig

Mr. Floyd F. “Lucky” Sittig, 95, a resident of Brevillier Village in Erie passed away at 10:15 AM on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. Mr. Sittig was born on August 15, 1920, in Pittsburgh to the late Lawrence and Alice Powell Sittig. He married Catherine E. Bedow on February 24, 1943 in Titusville. Mrs. Sittig preceded him in death on August 12, 2008. He was a graduate of Oliver High School in Pittsburgh. Mr. Sittig was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Navy. He entered the service on April 21, 1943 and was honorably discharged on Dec. 10, 1945. He was formerly employed by Western Electric and Talon of Meadville. He was last employed as an equipment installer for 35 years with General Electric and retired in 1984. Mr. Sittig was a member of the Elmwood Presbyterian Church in Erie. He was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, Cleo J. Ross Post 368 both of Titusville, and the Zukor Club in Erie. Mr. Sittig enjoyed reading and spending time with his family. He is survived by two sons, Floyd A. Sittig and wife Darlene, Craig A. Sittig both of Erie; two grandchildren, Kimberly Sittig of Erie, and Brian Sittig and wife Cynthia of Cranberry Township; and three great grandchildren, Kolten, Callista, and Caprice. Mr. Sittig was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Centi; and a brother, Edward Sittig. No calling hours will be observed. A private service with full military rites will be conducted for the family at Cherrytree Cemetery.
