Obituary of Robert J. Poux
Robert J. Poux, 89, a resident of St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge in Erie, formerly of Titusville, passed away Monday, September 7, 2015 at St. Mary’s surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Poux was born on May 16, 1926 at Meadville, a son of the late Just and Marie Gansen Poux. He was married to Margaret J. Kindervater on November 9, 1946 at St. Hippolyte Church in Frenchtown.
He was a graduate of Randolph High School, class of 1944.
Mr. Poux was a veteran having served in the US Navy. He entered the service on Oct. 12, 1944 and served on the USS Bremerton in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged on April 2, 1946 at Bainbridge, MD.
Mr. Poux was a plastics engineer having worked at Skyline Industries in Titusville from 1946 until 1973. He was also employed at Johns-Manville of Franklin from 1973 until 1975 and at Pyramid Industries from 1975 until 1990. He was co-owner and CEO of Poux Plastics, Inc. in Titusville from 1972 until 2005.
Mr. Poux was a member of St. Titus Church in Titusville; a member of the Knights of Columbus #492; and of the B.P.O. Elks No. 264 in Titusville. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife Margaret of Erie; the following children, Michael G. Poux and wife Sharon of Cochranton, Christopher J. Poux and wife Brenda of Meadville, Clare Ann Carter and husband Edward of Mineral City, OH, Phillip C. Poux and wife Rhonda of Memphis, TN, Danielle Schrantz and husband Stephen of West Chester, OH, and Mary Andree Poux of Erie; a daughter-in-law, Susan Poux of Cary, NY; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Col. Robert J. Poux; three brothers, Leon, Eugene, and Charles Poux; and two sisters, Georgianna Swaney and M. Antoinette Battaglia.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Titus Church 510 W. Spring St. Titusville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at the church with Fr. Walter E. Packard as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery with full military rites.
The family asks that memorials be made to St. Titus Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
