Obituary of Ethel Ann Snyder
Mrs. Ethel Ann Snyder, 93, passed away at 7:50 AM on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at her daughter’s home with her daughter and son-in-law by her side.
Mrs. Snyder was born at her home in Brookville on July 26, 1922, to the late John and Mary Kettin Bockoras. She married Clarence John “CJ” Snyder on May 30, 1941. Mr. Snyder preceded her in death on May 29, 1991.
She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Brookville, class of 1940.
Mrs. Snyder was formerly employed by the Brookville Glove Factory and Riverside Grocery Store of Brookville. She was later employed as the head of the bakery at Loblaw’s Grocery Store in Warren. Ethel moved to Titusville and in the 1980’s and worked for her daughter at the Colonel Drake Hotel, and Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce, as well as, St. Titus School in the kitchen.
She enjoyed fishing, working on puzzles and reading. She was named a valuable volunteer several times for her work with the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mrs. Snyder is survived by her daughter, C.J. (Snyder) Tisi and husband William of Titusville; a son, John Snyder and wife Linda of Warren; 7 grandchildren, Carolyn (Tisi) Behen and husband David of Conroe, TX, Mark Tisi and wife Donna of Indianapolis, IN, Carla (Tisi) Foley and fiancé Rick Neely of Titusville, Cristy (Tisi) Brown and husband Jeff of Nicholasville, KY, Shawn Snyder and wife Jill of Fuquay Verina, NC, Amy (Snyder) Harriman and husband Justin of Palmyera, PA, Zachary Owens of Port St. Lucie, FL; 6 great grandchildren, Michael Behen and wife Sarah, Alana Behen and fiancé Ray, MacKenzie Grace Foley, John Michael Harriman, Kristen Snyder, Nicholas Snyder; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Lee (Snyder) Owens; a grandson, Paul J. Tisi; 2 brothers, Albert and Edward Bockoras; and 4 sisters, Mary Bockoras who died in infancy, Margaret Potash, Mary Bauer, and Florence Dolly Kelso.
A mass of Christina burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Friday, September 18th from St., Titus Church with Fr. Justin Pino pastor of St. Joe’s in Oil City, as celebrant.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad, 7 Elm St., Oil City, PA 16301.
Following the mass service at St. Titus Church additional celebration of Ethel’s life will be held at her daughter’s home 230 E. Main St., Titusville.
