Obituary of Robert B. McGraw
Robert B. “Bob” McGraw, 86, of 610 E. Walnut St. Titusville, passed away Wednesday morning September 30, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Titusville surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on August 15, 1929 in Titusville, a son of the late George and Ruth Bruce McGraw. He was married to Patricia Anne Prenatt on November 26, 1955 at St. Titus Church.
Bob was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1947. He was a veteran having served in the US Army. He entered the service on August 6, 1948 at Erie, PA and was honorably discharged on August 8, 1954 at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. Bob was a paratrooper serving in the 82nd Airborne Division and served as a radio operator for General William Westmoreland.
Bob was owner of the former Arco Station in Titusville from 1955 to 1981. He then operated the A Plus Mini Mart at the same location from 1981 to 1995 at which time he retired.
Bob was a member of St. Titus Church; a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 492; and a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW. He was inducted into the Titusville High School Hall of Fame in 2006.
Bob could always be seen enjoying a drive around town with his wife, Pat, and eating at their favorite restaurant, Coal Oil Johnny’s. His favorite moments were times he spent with his children and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Bob was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Notre Dame football fan and never missed an opportunity to enjoy a game with his sons. He was also a supporter of Titusville High School sports. He enjoyed football games, basketball games, as well as soccer matches, especially when his children and grandchildren were participating.
He is survived by his wife Pat of Titusville; the following children, Christine Shofestall and husband Thomas of Strattanville, Angela Stromdahl and husband Jim of Titusville, James McGraw and wife Lisa of Hickory, Michael McGraw and wife Stacy of Milford, MI, Mary Jendesky and husband Frank of Butler, Regina Watkins and husband Michael of Titusville, and David McGraw and wife Stacy of South Lion, MI; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and a nephew, Ron Marsh and wife Linda of Titusville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George McGraw and a sister, Stella Carabell.
No public calling hours will be observed. Friends may attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday October 3, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Titus Church with Fr. Walter E. Packard as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery with full military honors.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to St. Titus Church 513 W. Main St. Titusville, to Hospice of Crawford County 406 W. Oak St. Titusville, or to the Titusville High School Alumni Association 302 E. Walnut St. Titusville, PA 16354.
