Obituary of Charles W. Walter
Mr. Charles W. Walter, 81, of Titusville passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Titusville Area Hospital.
Mr. Walter was born in Grand Valley on July 5, 1934 to the late John L. and Mary M. Neumire Walter, Sr.
He was a veteran having served in the United States Army.
Mr. Walter married Barbara A. Preston on May 18, 1963 in Titusville. She preceded him in death on March 10, 1993.
He drove tractor trailer for TransPenn Wax in Titusville and for Refiners Transport in Rouseville, from where he retired in 1996. During his years of driving, Mr. Walter received recognition for having driven over two million miles accident free.
Mr. Walter was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Titusville.
He was a member of the Pioneer Steam and Gas Engine Society and of the Antique Automobile Association.
Mr. Walter enjoyed working on tractors and magnetos. He was one of the last men in our area to be able to work on magnetos. He also enjoyed tending to his red raspberry bushes that he so generously gave away to his friends. He enjoyed having coffee and socializing with friends at Sam’s Restaurant and McDonald’s.
Mr. Walter is survived by his son, Charles E. Walter of Titusville; two grandchildren, Brandie Walter and companion Ivan Mendez of Hillside, NJ, and Cody Walter of Ellisville, MS; two great grandchildren, Xander and Ayden; two brothers, John L. Walter, Jr. of Titusville, and Richard L. Walter of Warren; two sisters, Vera Schneider of Aliquippa, and Ruth Campasino of New Castle; and numerous nieces and nephews, who were all special to him.
He was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Walter; and two sisters, Margaret Waychoff and Delia Uhrin.
Friends and family may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington Street, Titusville, PA 16354 on Saturday from 2 to 5 PM. The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday at 2 PM with Pastor Shaun Johnson officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Pleasantville.
