Obituary of Jack H. Renninger

Jack Hazen Renninger, 89, of Shreve Road, Titusville, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at his home surrounded by his wife of 67 years, Vera, and his family. He was born at home in Oakland Township, Venango County, on September 27, 1926, the son of Hugh Hays and Cora Elizabeth (Whitten) Renninger, and the youngest of their sixteen children. Jack married Vera Katheryn (Hart) Renninger on April 6, 1948, in Oil City, in a double wedding ceremony where Vera’s sister, Marie, married Richard Wayne Fox. Jack served in the United States Army during WWII from 1944 - 1946 as a Private First Class in Cannon Company, 31st Infantry Regiment and as a Guard Patrolman in the Philippine Islands with the 4422nd Quartermaster Depot Campaign in the Pacific Theater. He received the Army Occupation Medal (Japan), Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, WWII Victory Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal. Military Honors will be accorded by the VETS Honor Guard. Jack loved working on his farm, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He had a God-given gift for playing any instrument, especially his guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and harmonica, never having had a single lesson. He worked as a pumper at Quaker State until his retirement in 1988. His wife Vera survives, along with their five children and their spouses, David and wife Dorothy, Wayne and wife Debora, Terrie and husband Sam Hale, Cathy and husband Jeff Jamieson, and Paula and husband Derwood (Buddy) Montgomery, all of Titusville. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, Timothy, David, Rebecca, Daniel, Melissa, Patrick, Lindsey, Christopher, Stacy, Nicole, Michael, and Samantha and their spouses and numerous great grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Cora, his seven brothers, Daniel, Herman (Pete), Reuben (Mike), Paul (George), Floyd (Joe), Frank, Harvey, and eight sisters, Emma, Lottie, Matilda (Tilly), Tempi (Alice), Rosie, Mary, Florence, and Betty. His family will receive friends on Sunday from the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 North Washington Street, Titusville from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 AM with Reverend Dana Lewis pastor of the Mt. Carmel Tabernacle in Dempseytown, officiating. Interment will be at Jamison Corners Cemetery, Venango County. Memorial contributions can be sent to Hospice of Crawford County, 406 West Oak Street, Titusville, PA 16354. FLOWERS
