Obituary of Maxine C. Fiely
Maxine C. Fiely, 74, of Townville, passed away Thursday afternoon October 15, 2015 at Marquette Hospice House in Meadville.
Maxine was born on March 8, 1941 in Titusville, a daughter of the late John and Doris Blakeslee Van Cise. She was married to James M. Fiely on Aug. 11, 1962 at St. Titus Church in Titusville.
She was a graduate of Townville High School, class of 1960 and a graduate of Passavant Hospital School of Practical Nursing, class of 1962.
Maxine had been employed as an LPN at Meadville City Hospital. She later helped to operate the family farm until 1991, then returned to nursing working at the Hillside Home in Meadville and last at the Crawford County Care Center from where she retired.
She was a member of St. Titus Church. She was Steuben Township auditor for two terms and also served as Judge of Elections for the township.
Maxine was a member of the Townville Red Hats, Townville Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, Townville LEAP Club, and a former member of the Townville 4H Club. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, especially enjoying her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.
She is survived by her husband of Townville; three children, Douglas A. Fiely and wife Debbie of Springboro, Mark B. Fiely and wife Patty of Meadville, and Thomas A. Fiely and wife Patti of Cambridge Springs; 6 grandchildren, Tyler, Hope, Luke, Isaac, Sam, and Ben Fiely; a brother, Gordon Van Cise and wife Julie of Townville; two sisters, Vivian Neff and husband William of McLean, VA and Marilyn Brenner and husband George of Charlestown, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Saturday from 6 to 8 PM and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Titus Church with Fr. Walter E. Packard as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery.
