Obituary of Ellen Mae Thomas

Mrs. Ellen Mae Thomas of Franklin, and later of Tavares, FLA, died Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Wesbury United Methodist Community in Meadville. She was 90 years of age. Mrs. Thomas was born on May 18, 1919 at Franklin, PA, a daughter of the late Lester and Ethel Hazelton Rosenberry. She was married to Glenn C. Thomas on October 18, 1940. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2000. Mrs. Thomas was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School, class of 1937. She attended all 12 years at this school. During her high school years, she was a member of the Girl Reserve for four years and the Sporty Seven for two years. She was also a member of the senior class play. Ellen Mae was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin and later a member of the Union Congregational Church in Tavares, FLA. She was a homemaker and dearly loved caring for her family. Mrs. Thomas is survived by a son, Michael Thomas and his wife Cynthia of Meridian, Idaho; two daughters, Margaret Boyd and her husband Thomas of Hernando, FLA and Mary Crouser and her husband Roy of Titusville; eight grandchildren, Jason Thomas and his wife Barbara, Janet Thomas, Joshua Thomas, Christopher Boyd and his wife Lisa, Karen Boyd, Ellen Miller and her husband Raymond, Cheryl Hodgson and her husband Rodney, Deborah Hasbrouck and her husband Bret; 14 great grandchildren, Brandon and Jessica Thomas, Alyssa and Louden Boyd, TJ Gray, Kasey Boyd, Olivia, Emma, Samuel and Anna Claire Miller, Alexis and Madison Claire Hodgson, Chad and Sarah Mae Hasbrouck; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Rosenberry. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Chapmanville Community Church on Friday, Dec. 11, 2009 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Pastor Glen Van Cise, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens, Cranberry, PA. FLOWERS
