Obituary of Marjorie Carlson
Mrs. Marjorie Carlson, 88, who lived most of her life on Thompson Run Road, passed away on October 29, 2015 in Latrobe, PA.
She was born in Titusville on May 4, 1927, and was a daughter of Walfried S. and Frances Zerres Peterson.
She graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1944.
She married Edward H. Carlson on June 26, 1948 at St. Titus Rectory with Msgr. James F. Hopkins officiating.
Mrs. Carlson worked at Struther’s Wells Iron Works Division from 1944 to 1951. She reentered the work force in 1968 and worked for the City of Titusville and the School District as the Earned Income Tax Collector, until her retirement in 2000.
She was interested in education, especially at Saint Vincent College and the University of Wisconsin.
She is survived by her son, Br. David Carlson, St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, PA; a son-in-law David Oniboni; twin granddaughters, Alison and Laura Oniboni and step grandson Ethan Oniboni of Verona, PA; five nieces, Venita Raszmann and husband Daniel of Warren, OH; Joyce Ross Fenton and husband Roger, Linda Ross Wozniak, Judith Ross Walker and husband Robert, and Saundra Carlson; a nephew, Gary Carlson; a great niece, Kimberly Raszmann Washburn and husband Todd; a great-great nephew, Johnathan Washburn; and several other nieces and nephews, including Dale Carlson, Charles and Crystal, Lee and Grace, Craig and Nicole, Erich and Teri and Cara Carlson.
Mrs. Carlson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; two daughters, infant Laura Carlson and Alma Oniboni; son, Roger Carlson, PhD; and sister, Marie Carlson and her husband Andrew Carlson.
Friends and family may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home, 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA 16354, on Friday, November 6 from 5 to 7 PM. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 7, from 10 to 11 AM at St. Titus Church, 510 W. Spring St., Titusville, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow with Fr. Walter E. Packard and Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, O.S.B. as celebrant.
