Obituary of Jesse Lewis Dowd III

Mr. Jesse Lewis Dowd III, 73, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie.

            Jesse had just recently returned home to Titusville to make his residence, and be near his children and grandchildren. He previously lived in Greenville, TN for over 30 years.

            He was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy in Titusville, class of 1964. He attended Marquette University and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh.

            Jesse was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He served 4 years, completing Officers Candidate School at Ft. Still Oklahoma, and 1 tour of duty in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart, and honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.

            He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, rescuing animals, and taking care of his loyal companion, CeCe.

            Jesse is survived by three children, Patti Hines of Titusville, Jesse Lewis Dowd IV of Knoxville, TN, Pam Speer of Titusville; 2 sisters, Teddi Gerard of Russell, PA, Cathi Cook of Ft. Collins, CO; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

            He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse “Buddy” Dowd II and Catherine “Kay” Roessner Dowd.

            A celebration of Jesse’s life will be held at a later date with a time to be announced.
